NEW Luxury Home with Expansive Ocean Views and Contemporary Style

5000 m2 3300 ft2 3+ Bedrooms 3.5 Bathrooms Year Built: 2015

This NEW Luxury Home with Expansive Ocean Views and Contemporary Style is the kind of home you walk into and are awestruck.  Not too big, but with all the bells and whistles and a view that covers half of the country’s Pacific Seaboard.  In other parts of Costa Rica this home would have a price tag of 1M+.

Built into the side of a mountain, enjoy views from the Tarcoles River in the Central Pacific, North to Guanacaste.  The truly magnificent seascape includes the Pacific Ocean, the Nicoya Peninsula, Nicola Gulf, and all the islands almost at your fingertips.  Inside the home itself, each fixture, appliance, material and color was chosen by the present owners in hand with the famous architect who designed it.  Started 10 years ago, but left abandoned due to the unexpected fetes of the project, the present owners took everything back to the studs and rebuilt to American Standards from scratch.  The result is breathtaking.  Perched on two levels, the home takes in the views at every angle and from every room.  Wrap around porches on both levels and terraces with sitting areas dot the outside of the home.  Each room of the home has windows and sliding glass/screen doors to open almost the entire indoors to the open air when you choose to.  Custom shades were designed for warmer and sunnier days when you may want to hold back some of the natural light that fills the space.  As you drive up to the home, the clean architectural lines form its modern build, while the steps and entry garden create texture to bring out a lovely designer curb appeal.  The home itself is a nice size for a couple, small family or an upscale B&B.  The home and lot are just the right size to maintain without little effort, beautiful gardens, and ample space to add a pool, gazebo, greenhouse or other personal touch.

The homes is laid out as follows:

You are immediately greeted by the stunning views as you walk in through the main entry onto the upper level of the home.  The walls are mostly glass, but because the mountain slopes below, your privacy is maintained.  An open layout on one side of the home includes a chef’s kitchen with all stainless steel appliances, large center island with workspace and breakfast bar.  All custom wood cabinetry and granite counters.  The dining area, living room and wet bar complete the entertaining portion of this floor, with vaulted ceilings and specialty lighting for the evenings. Privately tucked on the other side is the large guest bedroom, again with complete open views to the Pacific Ocean and Nicoya Gulf, and a walk-out terrace.  A full, modern guest bath completes this floor.

The lower level is set up with a nice common area coffee bar, office/gym and the Master Suite.  Just across from the coffee bar is the indoor garden providing a beautiful interior area to enjoy nature even on a rainy day.  The Master bedroom is positioned to look out towards the islands of the Gulf and the Nicoya Peninsula – see the cruise ships come in by day, and the sunset by night.  A special lock-off closet has a full walk-in area of specially built-in shelving, a full laundry room with brand new washer and dryer plus utility sink, and an ensuite bathroom fit for a queen.  Tastefully tiled from floor to ceiling with double sinks, walk-in rain shower and jetted jacuzzi tub.  All new.  Sharing the rest of the ground level is an efficiency apartment with private entry along the side, and a workspace also with private entry from the outside.

The efficiency apartment comes with a full bed and views of the Nicoya Peninsula, small efficiency kitchen and beautiful bathroom with shower.  Towards the other side of the house is yet another entire room with full water hookups for an additional W/D, but can be used in any way you wish – art studio, workspace, gardening room.

The present owners have been enjoying this home as a project for the past year.  It is designed to be flexible, either as a large home or sectioned off as a B&B or rental property.  Every room has its own entry from the outside, giving the home great potential for a business.  There is also the preliminary workings of a small, 2 level 20×20 casita at the NW corner of the property.   Change up the plan and add an infinity pool or rancho and outdoor hot-tub area.  The other side of the home could be added onto as well.  The possibilities are there for expansion, or simply enjoy this beauty as is.

This is a unique home, less than 15 minutes from the major town of San Ramon with all it amenities, UCR Occidental campus and main hospital – Cafes, restaurants, beautiful parks and even our own little Museum.  Minutes away are hiking trails, waterfalls, horseback riding – this is a beautiful, welcoming part of Costa Rica.  Come take a look today before someone else snatches up this property.  San Ramon is starting to grow, and in other areas of Costa Rica this home would start at 2x the asking price.  Don’t wait!

      Hi Mary,

My apologies for getting back to you so late – we were on vacation without work! The land is just over an acre, 5000m2, and I am checking on the taxes but I believe they are around $200/year (two-hundred US dollars). The house is beautiful. We have another contemporary house for sale as well, brand new build, never lived in, and several other high-end homes in the San Ramon area. Let me email you directly and we can chat privately to find out more precisely what you are looking for.

      Thanks,
      Kim y David

      Hi Ellen,

Human, alive, present to sign documents and pay in cash! But seriously, it is very easy to buy property here. Nationals and foreigners have the same rights to own land, though mortgages are not offered to out of towners. Closing are fast and painless (usually), and we check all properties with the National Registry and our due diligence makes sure you get the property the right way.

      Pura vida,
      Kim y David
